The long-anticipated details of the Nintendo Switch 2 have finally been unveiled, and they're more impressive than many expected. The new console supports up to 120fps and can handle 4K resolution when docked, marking a significant leap in performance over its predecessor.
During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased various features of the system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch screen compared to the original Switch, maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm but doubling the pixel count. This allows for a 1080p display in handheld mode at up to 120fps, utilizing an LCD screen with HDR support. When docked, the console can deliver up to 4K resolution with HDR.The new Joy-Con 2 controllers feature magnetic connections and can be detached with a release button on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing horizontal gameplay, and the analog sticks on the left and right are also bigger. This segment also officially introduced mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.
In its handheld form, the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and supports 3D audio for compatible games. It also features a more robust and adjustable stand compared to the original Switch, and a top USB port for external camera connectivity or charging the system in tabletop mode.
Lastly, the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with 256GB of internal storage, providing ample space for games and applications.
