The Quest 3S's affordability, coupled with its standalone functionality (no tethered connection or powerful PC/console needed), proved a winning combination. While VR remains niche, the accessible price and game library propelled its Amazon sales.

Amazon's 2024 best-seller list reveals the Quest 3S's dominance in the video game category, securing the #11 overall spot—a strong showing amidst gift cards and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions. The PlayStation 5 Slim (#17) and Nintendo Switch (#53) lagged significantly. Notably, Xbox consoles were absent from the top 80, although peripherals appeared. The PlayStation 5 Pro was also missing. Only a Nintendo microSDXC card and the PlayStation DualSense controller ranked higher (#8 and #9, respectively).

Enhanced VR Accessibility

Sony's PlayStation VR2 notably failed to make the Amazon list. The Quest 3S's untethered design and standalone operation likely contributed to its appeal, offering greater freedom of movement and eliminating the need for additional hardware investment.

Interestingly, the discontinued Meta Quest 2 also ranked (#27), while the original Meta Quest 3 was absent from the top 80. This suggests price sensitivity within the VR market.
