"New Predator Unveiled in 'Badlands' Trailer: Unlike Any Before"

Author : Charlotte May 17,2025

The excitement is palpable as the teaser trailer for the upcoming sci-fi action sequel, Predator: Badlands, has just surfaced online. This tantalizing sneak peek introduces us to Elle Fanning's character, who finds herself on a perilous, distant planet in the future. Yet, what sets this film apart is the introduction of a unique Predator, who appears to be not just another antagonist but possibly the protagonist of the story. The teaser boldly states, "The director of Prey welcomes you to a world of pain," setting the stage for an intense cinematic experience.

The trailer doesn't shy away from hinting at connections to the Alien universe, fueling speculation that Badlands might pave the way for a new Aliens vs Predator film. A striking detail is Fanning's eyes, which mimic the Weyland Yutani reboot effect seen in Alien: Romulus, suggesting her character might be a synthetic. Additionally, a glimpse of the Weyland Yutani logo, the notorious megacorporation from the Alien franchise, can be seen on a damaged vehicle, further tying the two universes together.

First announced in February 2024, Predator: Badlands saw its release date confirmed in October of the same year. The trailer made its exclusive debut at CinemaCon earlier this month, and now, fans everywhere can finally get a taste of what's in store. 20th Century Studios also unveiled an official synopsis at CinemaCon, revealing that the film is set "in the future on a remote planet, where a young Predator, outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary."

Elle Fanning shared some intriguing insights about her role at CinemaCon, stating, "Something unprecedented happens in this movie. My character is not the one being chased. My character actually teams up with the Predator. And you get to see him in a completely new light. And... I'll stop there!" This revelation promises a fresh take on the classic Predator narrative.

Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, known for his work on 10 Cloverfield Lane and the Predator prequel Prey, Predator: Badlands was co-written by Trachtenberg and Patrick Aison. Fans can mark their calendars for the film's premiere in theaters on November 7, 2025.
