Multiple Ways to Mitigate Difficulty

Hollow Knight: Silksong developer Team Cherry acknowledged that the game is significantly more challenging than its predecessor but has provided players with several methods to ease the difficulty. In a September 18 interview with Dexerto, Hollow Knight series co-creators Ari Gibson and William Pellen discussed how players can handle the game's demands.
Gibson explained that the team aimed to offer greater freedom for exploration, enabling players to take various routes and branch off from the main quest. He noted, "Silksong has some moments of steep difficulty – but part of allowing a higher level of freedom within the world means that you have choices all the time about where you’re going and what you’re doing."

Although the community has raised concerns about tough boss battles, Gibson described them as "fine," stating that players have options to overcome challenges through exploration, learning patterns, or even bypassing obstacles entirely rather than being blocked.
Despite player feedback regarding the overall difficulty, Team Cherry continues to refine Silksong with regular updates. The game's second patch was released last week, fixing tool-specific bugs and adjusting certain enemies.
Owing to Team Cherry’s ongoing dedication, Silksong has secured a spot among the top 15 best-selling games and ranks as the fifth most-played title on Steam. At Game8, we awarded Hollow Knight: Silksong an impressive score of 98 out of 100 for enhancing upon the original game, proving that every second of the six-year wait was worthwhile.
