The rumor mill for a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater remake is heating up, and fans have reason to get excited. Singapore's rating board has now rated "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4" with an anticipated release in 2025. This eagerly awaited collection, which would include the next two mainline games in the iconic series, is slated for a wide range of platforms including Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
While there's no official word from Activision just yet, a countdown timer hidden within Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is stoking the flames of anticipation. Set to expire on March 4, 2025, it seems to be teasing some major Tony Hawk's Pro Skater news on the horizon.
Adding more fuel to the fire, Tony Hawk himself shared during an interview on Mythical Kitchen that he's been in talks with Activision again, hinting at a project that's sure to delight fans. "It will be something the fans will truly appreciate," Hawk promised, raising expectations for what could be on the way.
Following the critically acclaimed Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 remake released in 2020, remaking the subsequent games seemed like the logical next step. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and 4 were seen as prime candidates, but the landscape shifted when the original developer, Vicarious Visions, was integrated into Blizzard in 2021 to focus on other projects.
According to Tony Hawk, the plan had been in place "even up until the release day" of the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 remake to move forward with 3+4. However, with Vicarious Visions no longer available, Activision sought alternative developers. In a 2022 Twitch livestream, Hawk revealed, "The truth of it is that [Activision] were trying to find somebody to do 3 + 4 but they just didn’t really trust anyone the way they did Vicarious, so they took other pitches from other studios. Like, ‘What would you do with the THPS title?’ And they didn’t like anything they heard, and then that was it."
With the Singaporean ratings board listing Activision as both the publisher and developer, the burning question remains: who is developing this rumored Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 remake? As the countdown timer ticks down to March 4, next week, fans won't have to wait much longer to uncover more details about this exciting project.
