Netflix Unveils Devil May Cry Anime Opening Trailer, Hints at Multi-Season Arc
Following the recent announcement of its premiere date, Netflix dropped the opening trailer for its upcoming Devil May Cry anime adaptation. The trailer, set to Limp Bizkit's iconic "Rollin'," showcases dynamic action sequences featuring a young Dante, Lady, and the enigmatic White Rabbit, peppered with nods to the game series.
Showrunner Adi Shankar elaborated on his vision for the anime's future. He explained that the series, set in the late 90s and early 2000s, will leverage a soundtrack reflective of that era, featuring artists like Limp Bizkit and a synthwave reimagining of the game's soundtrack by Power Glove.
Shankar further hinted at a multi-season plan, stating that subsequent seasons will sport distinct visual styles and soundtracks to mirror the diverse nature of the Devil May Cry games.
While plot specifics remain under wraps, the first season is anticipated to draw inspiration from the Devil May Cry 3 manga, Code 1: Dante. This arc centers on a young Dante investigating a child's disappearance, forcing a confrontation with his demonic heritage and the legacy of his father, Sparda.
The eight-episode first season is slated to premiere on April 3, 2025.
