Pesten With Cards is a traditional Dutch card game, often translated as Bullying With Cards.
Pesten With Cards is a classic Dutch card game that literally translates to Bullying With Cards. Similar games are played in other countries, such as Mau-Mau, Crazy Eights, Shedding, Puque, Чешский Дурак, Фараон, Крокодил, Tschau Sepp, or Uno. The objective is to be the first player to discard all your cards. Before playing the final card to win, you must announce "Last Card." Forgetting to say it results in a two-card penalty.
The game can be played with multiple decks, including jokers. Each player is dealt seven cards, and the remaining cards form a face-down stock pile. The top card from the stock is turned face-up to start the discard pile. If this card is a "Pest-card," its effect applies as though the dealer played it. Players then take turns clockwise.
On your turn, slide one card onto the discard pile. You may only play a card matching the number or suit of the top card, except for Jokers and Jacks, which can be played on any card. If you cannot play, draw one card from the stock. If the drawn card is playable, you may choose to play it immediately or keep it.
-Last card
When you have one card left, you must announce "Last Card" by clicking the designated button. Failure to do so before playing your final card results in a two-card penalty. Incorrectly announcing "Last Card" also incurs a penalty. You may press the button at any time to ensure you remember.
You win the round by playing your last card, provided it is not a special card (see below).
-Special Cards
Certain cards trigger special actions when played. Since Dutch rules vary, you can customize these actions in the game options. Available actions include:
- Joker
The next player draws five cards. If that player holds a Joker, they may play it to pass the penalty to the following player, who then draws ten cards. Each Joker adds five cards to the draw. Players who draw cards cannot play them immediately.
- Two
The next player draws two cards. If they hold a Two, they may play it to make the next player draw four cards. Each Two adds two cards to the draw. Optionally, a Joker can be played on a Two (but not vice versa), increasing the draw by five cards. Drawing players skip their turn.
- Seven
You must play another card immediately. If this leaves you with one card, remember to announce "Last Card." If you cannot play, draw a card.
- Eight
The next player misses a turn. In two-player games, this allows you to play again.
- Ten
All players pass one card to the left. Choose the card you wish to...
