VNeID Application for Electronic Identification and Authentication
The VNeID application, developed by the National Population Data Center under the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, leverages population data for identification and electronic authentication purposes. It is specifically designed for individuals residing in or visiting Vietnam.
Key Features and Benefits:
- Digital Replacement for Traditional Documents: VNeID serves as a digital substitute for traditional identification papers, facilitating the identification of citizens in a digital environment.
- Support for Digital Initiatives: The application contributes to the development of digital citizenship, digital government, and digital society.
- Health and Travel Declarations: It enables users to submit medical reports and domestic travel declarations efficiently.
- COVID-19 Response: VNeID assists authorities in tracing secondary infections of COVID-19 and provides timely notifications to the public.
Access Permissions:
By using VNeID, users consent to the following access permissions:
- Internet Access: Allows the application to connect to the internet from the user's device.
- Camera Access: Enables the scanning of QR codes on Citizen ID (CCCD) cards to expedite the entry of basic citizen information and facilitate quick scanning for travel and medical declarations.
- Media Access: Grants access to photos, videos, audios, and files on the device to store QR code images for verification at citizen checkpoints.
- Notification Permissions: Permits the application to send notifications to the user's device.
Personal Information Collection:
Users voluntarily provide personal information through the application, including:
- Full name
- Phone number
- Citizen identification
- Gender
- Year of birth
- Permanent address
- Nationality
- Health status
- Place of departure and destination
- Vehicle number plate
- Exposure to individuals with COVID-19
This information is collected with the user's explicit permission via form submissions and is used solely for the purposes stated.
Responsibility and Data Privacy:
Users are responsible for their actions and the accuracy of the information they input. The National Population Data Center ensures the security and privacy of user data, using it exclusively for COVID-19 prevention and control efforts. The data will not be used for commercial purposes and will not infringe on users' private lives. Data may be shared with health authorities and other competent bodies to enhance disease prevention efforts.
Additional Privacy Measures:
- No Location Tracking: VNeID does not collect location data.
- Anonymity: Users interact within the community anonymously. Only authorized entities can access information about infected individuals or those suspected of infection due to close contact with a COVID-19 case for tracing purposes.
