Japanese Mahjong is an engaging game that follows the traditional Japanese style of rules. To play, you'll use the slider located at the bottom of the screen to select your tiles. Once you've made your selection, tap the slider to discard the chosen tile. The ultimate goal of Mahjong is to complete your hand by forming four Melds and one Pair. An example of a completed hand might look like this: \[1, 2, 3\]\[6, 6, 6\]\[6, 7, 8\]\[N, N, N\]\[4, 4\].
It's important to note that certain hands are not valid if they include Chi, Pon, or Open Kan. Specifically, be cautious when using 1 and 9 in Chi and Pon, as these can affect the validity of your hand. In Japanese Mahjong, having at least one valid hand is essential. You can enhance your hand by declaring "Reach" for a cost of 1,000 points, but remember that you cannot declare Reach if you have performed Chi, Pon, or Open Kan. If you maintain a closed hand, you'll have the chance to earn higher points.
Understanding the concept of a "Lost Hand" is crucial. A Lost Hand occurs when your hand is Waiting, but you cannot win off another player's discard because you've already discarded the winning tile yourself. Even with a Lost Hand, you can still win by self-drawing. The key to success is to avoid winning off another player's discard (Ron) with a tile you've previously discarded. Always strategize based on the other players' discards to determine your winning move.
