Ananta: Project Mugen Rebranded, New Trailer Released

Naked Rain's and NetEase's upcoming open-world RPG, previously known as Project Mugen, has been officially rebranded as Ananta. Initially unveiled at Gamescom 2023, the game recently released a new trailer, promising further details on December 5th. The trailer can be viewed here:

The reason behind the name change remains undisclosed by the developers. However, Ananta, meaning "infinite" in Sanskrit, mirrors the meaning of Mugen, its previous name, aligning with the Chinese title as well. While the name change has sparked mixed reactions within the gaming community, the continued development of the project is a relief to many.

Comparisons are already being drawn between Ananta and Hotta Studio's upcoming RPG, Neverness to Everness. Ananta's stylish trailer, while lacking gameplay footage, has ignited visual appeal discussions, sparking debate over which game holds a stronger visual advantage.

Adding to the intrigue, the development team has surprisingly deleted all previous social media accounts, including a YouTube channel boasting over 100,000 subscribers and millions of views. Only the Discord server remains, simply renamed to reflect the title change. This unexpected move has left many gamers puzzled.

Ananta casts players as an Infinite Trigger, a paranormal investigator confronting supernatural disturbances. The game features a diverse roster of characters including Taffy, Bansy, Alan, Mechanika, and Dila. For further gameplay details, visit the official website.
