"Avowed: Complete Guide to Playable Races"

Author : Emma Mar 29,2025

*Avowed* expands on the rich Fantasy world of Eora from the *Pillars of Eternity* series of isometric RPGs. While the game features a variety of races within the Kith, your choices in the character creator are somewhat limited. Below is a detailed look at all the playable races in *Avowed*.

Humans (Known In-Universe as Folk)

Humans, referred to as Folk in *Avowed*, are the most common race in the game and prominently featured in the character creator. They belong to the broader category of Kith, which includes various sentient, civilized species.

Fortunately, *Avowed* offers extensive customization options for Humans, catering to a broad player base. The character creator includes numerous presets, detailed customization tools, a variety of facial presets, a skin tone slider, and diverse hair textures. These features should allow most players to craft a character that reflects their identity.

Elves

Elves are another selectable race in *Avowed*. They are visually similar to Humans, with the primary differences being slightly altered facial structures and their signature long, pointed ears.

Godlikes

There is also a third playable race option in *Avowed*—Godlikes. Although all Envoys are Godlike in the story, players can decide whether to display Godlike features. These features include unique hair and facial attributes, ranging from subtle to surreal. At launch, *Avowed* offers 14 Godlike facial features and four Godlike hair options, available to all characters regardless of race or body type.

What Gender Options are Available in the Avowed Character Creator? Answered

In *Avowed*, you can choose from four Body Types: two masculine and two feminine, available for both Humans and Elves. Additionally, there are two voice options for each gender. Players can also select their character’s identifier, choosing from he, she, or they pronouns to personalize their gameplay experience.

Several Races Present in Avowed Are Not Playable

It's worth noting that not all races seen in *Avowed* are available for the player to choose. While you'll encounter NPCs from various Kith races like Dwarves, semiaquatic Aumaua, and half-sized hairy Orlans in the Living Lands, these options are not included in the character creator. However, Obsidian Entertainment might consider adding more race options in future updates or DLCs for *Avowed*.

This covers all the playable races in *Avowed*. If you're interested in further customization, check out our guide on the various backgrounds you can choose during character creation.
