Bandai Namco Unveils Digimon Alysion: Digital Card Game

Bandai Namco is set to bring the beloved Digimon franchise back to mobile devices with Digimon Alysion, a digital adaptation of the Digimon Card Game. This free-to-play title is slated for release on both Android and iOS platforms, although an exact launch date remains undisclosed.

The announcement came during Digimon Con 2025 on March 19th, where Bandai Namco also unveiled other exciting updates. Fans can look forward to a new arc for Digimon Liberator in April 2025, a special video celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime, and a fresh project titled Digimon Adventure: Beyond. Additionally, a new RPG, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, is in development for consoles and PC.

Digimon Alysion: More Than Just a Card Game

Digimon Alysion isn't merely a digital replica of the physical Digimon Card Game. It introduces innovative 'DigiAly' cards, a feature exclusive to this mobile version, alongside the traditional card set. Bandai Namco is also expanding the universe with new Digimon and characters.

The game's character lineup, prominently featuring an all-female cast, marks a unique direction for a digital card game. This choice has sparked some skepticism among fans, particularly those who were expecting a more faithful adaptation of the physical game.

This isn't Bandai Namco's first foray into Digimon mobile gaming. Past attempts have met with limited success, raising concerns about the potential of Digimon Alysion. Despite these reservations, anticipation for the game remains high. A closed beta test is currently being planned, though specifics are yet to be announced.
