Rey Dau is your first encounter with a dragon monster in Monster Hunter Wilds. With its lightning element, it's immune to lightning-based attacks but vulnerable to water and ice. Aim for its head, which has a 4-star weakness, or its wings with a 3-star weakness. Avoid hitting its sturdy torso and well-protected legs. Instead, target the tail if the head is out of reach. Utilize status ailments like Poison, Sleep, Blastblight, and Exhaust, but avoid Stun and Paralysis, as they are ineffective against this lightning dragon.

Use a Flash Pod

A key strategy to quickly defeat Rey Dau is deploying a Flash Pod. This temporarily stuns the monster, providing an opportunity to attack its glowing red horns, especially after it unleashes its lightning attack. Enter Focus Mode to better target these vulnerable spots.

Wear Element-Resistant Gear

To withstand Rey Dau's attacks, equip gear like the Hope Armor set, which offers the Divine Blessing skill to reduce damage and provides resistance to Lightning and Fire. Enhance your elemental resistance further with a strategic meal. If dodging is a challenge, position yourself close to Rey Dau’s legs, where it's less likely to hit you.

Pay Attention to the Environment

Rey Dau's mobility means you'll need to adapt to different terrains. In the open plains, use Vine Traps from lone trees to briefly stun the dragon. Be cautious near its nest, where it can follow up with a dangerous lightning attack that could stun you. Patience is key to avoiding a fatal shock.
