Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 boasts a delightful array of characters, and none might capture hearts quite like Esquie, the game's endearing giant companion who feels like a mascot. However, Sandfall Interactive, the game's developer, has issued a warning regarding the proliferation of counterfeit Esquie merchandise. In a recent post on X/Twitter from the official Expedition 33 account, the studio highlighted the emergence of "suspicious" websites selling unauthorized Esquie plushies.
"To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed," Sandfall Interactive stated. They pointed out that many of these sites use AI-generated artwork to advertise their products, cautioning fans that these could be scams and advising against purchases from such sources.
On a brighter note, Sandfall Interactive is actively working on an official Esquie plushie. They've asked fans to remain patient as they strive to bring the beloved character to life in plush form as soon as possible. "In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!" the studio urged.
For those familiar with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, it's clear why an Esquie plushie would be in high demand. Introduced in Act 1, Esquie serves as both a helpful companion and a unique mode of overworld travel, reminiscent of Big Hero 6's Baymax. This charm and utility make an official Esquie plushie an exciting prospect for fans.
A quick Google search reveals the existence of unofficial sites and discussions about Esquie plush sellers, but fans eager for the genuine article from Sandfall and Kepler will need to wait. There's no word yet on whether the real-life plushie will amusingly be filled with wine, as Esquie might whimsically suggest.
In other news, Sandfall Interactive recently released patch 1.2.3 for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which included balance adjustments to Maelle's Stendhal ability. Additionally, French President Emmanuel Macron praised the game, highlighting its developers as a "shining example of French audacity and creativity."
