Street Fighter 6's Latest Battle Pass Faces Backlash Over Lack of Character Costumes

Street Fighter 6 players are expressing significant disappointment with the recently announced "Boot Camp Bonanza" battle pass. The issue isn't the content included – avatars, stickers, and other customization options – but rather the notable absence of new character costumes. This omission has sparked considerable outrage across YouTube and other social media platforms.

The game, launched in Summer 2023, introduced revamped gameplay while retaining core Street Fighter mechanics. However, its DLC and premium add-on strategy has been a source of ongoing criticism. The new battle pass exacerbates these concerns, with many players voicing their frustration at the perceived lack of value. User salty107, for example, questioned the prioritization of avatar items over character costumes, suggesting the latter would likely be more profitable. Several players stated a preference for no battle pass at all over the current offering.

The absence of new costumes is particularly jarring given the last release was the Outfit 3 pack in December 2023. A year later, the lack of new outfits contrasts sharply with the more frequent costume releases in Street Fighter 5. While Street Fighter 5 had its own controversies, the difference in Capcom's approach between the two titles is undeniable.

The future of this battle pass remains uncertain. However, the core gameplay, particularly the innovative "Drive" mechanic, continues to attract players. This new mechanic allows for strategic fight reversals, adding a fresh dimension to the classic Street Fighter formula. While the new characters and mechanics initially revitalized the franchise, the game's live-service model and its handling of cosmetic content continue to be a point of contention as we move into 2025.
