After 11 years, Far Cry 4 now runs at a smooth 60 frames per second (fps) on the PlayStation 5.
As noted by user gael_74 on the Far Cry 4 subreddit, the game's update history confirms that version 1.08 added "support for 60 FPS on PS5."

Far Cry 4 is the latest in a series of PS4-era Ubisoft titles to receive a performance boost in recent years, joining games like Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Assassin's Creed Origins. Unsurprisingly, fans on the subreddit are now hoping other beloved Far Cry games, such as Far Cry Primal and Far Cry 3, will get the same 60 fps treatment soon.
"You have got to be kidding me. I just earned the platinum trophy, like, three days ago," one unlucky player lamented, showing that the update arrived just a bit too late for some.
Last month, Ubisoft established a new subsidiary focused on its Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six brands, backed by a €1.16 billion (approx. $1.25 billion) investment from the Chinese conglomerate Tencent.
This news followed Ubisoft's announcement that Assassin's Creed Shadows had surpassed 3 million players. Leading up to the game's release, Ubisoft faced a series of high-profile flops, layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations, making Shadows' success critical after the company's share price hit a record low.
Earlier today, Ubisoft also quietly added Steam Achievements to the 12-year-old game Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
