Dan Da Dan TV Anime Drops New Trailer, Theatrical Premiere

DAN DA DAN: A Highly Anticipated Anime Set for October Release

The upcoming anime, DAN DA DAN, directed by Fuga Yamashiro and produced by Science Saru, is generating significant buzz. Scheduled for a worldwide premiere in October 2024, the series is already attracting attention from major streaming platforms like Crunchyroll and Netflix, with GKIDS even securing North American theatrical releases for the first three episodes this fall.

Based on Yukinobu Tatsu's popular manga, DAN DA DAN centers on Ken "Okarun" Takakura, a boy who believes in aliens but not ghosts, and Momo Ayase, who holds the opposite belief. Their attempt to prove each other wrong leads to a chaotic discovery: they're both right.

A Stellar Cast and Crew

The latest trailer unveils a more extensive cast, including Nana Mizuki as Momo's grandmother, Seiko, Ayane Sakura as Aira Shiratori, and Kaito Ishikawa as Jin Enjoji. The main characters, Okarun and Momo, are voiced by Natsuki Hanae and Shion Wakayama, respectively. Other notable voice actors include Mayumi Tanaka as Turbo-Granny and Kazuya Nakai as the Alien Serpo.

The anime's visual style is drawing comparisons to Mob Psycho 100, a testament to the talent involved. Yoshimichi Kameda, a key animator on Mob Psycho 100, designs the aliens and paranormal creatures, while Naoyuki Onda (Berserk, Psycho-Pass) handles character design. The soundtrack, composed by Kensuke Ushio (A Silent Voice, Devilman Crybaby), promises to be just as captivating, with the opening theme, "Otonoke," performed by Creepy Nuts.

Early Access: A Theatrical Premiere Event

A special theatrical event, DAN DA DAN: First Encounter, showcasing the first three episodes, will premiere on August 31st in Asia and September 7th in Europe. North American audiences can catch the event starting September 13th. This screening will include a video interview with the manga author, editor, director, and the voice actors of Momo and Okarun.

With its intriguing premise, stellar cast and crew, and stunning visuals, DAN DA DAN is shaping up to be one of the must-see anime of Fall 2024. The series will be available for streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix this October.
