REPO's Overcharge and Difficulty Scaling are Getting Major Tweaks, Says Developer

Exciting changes are on the horizon for REPO, as the developers at Semiwork are set to refine the game's difficulty scaling and introduce new mechanics every 10 levels. Dive into the details about the upcoming Overcharge mechanic adjustments and discover what the team has been working on during the game's open beta.

REPO Development Updates

Overcharge Overhaul

REPO's open beta has been a goldmine of feedback, and one aspect that caught the developers' attention is the Overcharge mechanic. This feature lets players counter enemies by picking them up and hurling them onto hard surfaces or away from their team. However, it's not a free-for-all; an overcharge meter fills up, and if it reaches its limit, the player will explode.

Originally, Overcharge was available right from the start, but the developers have decided to unlock it at level 10. Moreover, they plan to introduce new mechanics that increase difficulty every 10 levels (at levels 20, 30, and so on), with Overcharge being the first in this series of challenges.

These new mechanics will not only ramp up the difficulty but also enrich the game's lore. As Semiwork's team stated, "So this system will be also tied to lore. It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this and we will share more details in the future."

Developers Joined Open Beta Matchmaking

During the open beta, Semiwork's developers didn't just observe from the sidelines; they jumped into the action. By joining random matches incognito, they engaged directly with players to gather insights on what could be improved. Pontus Sundstrom, a developer at Semiwork, expressed his delight at seeing players enjoy the new additions to the game.

He shared, "And I've also actually played with a lot of you guys - incognito, in secret, through the random matchmaking in the servers." Sundstrom further noted, "And I've been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that."

With the wealth of community feedback from the open beta, Semiwork is committed to enhancing REPO. Players can anticipate more exciting updates as the developers have promised to keep the community informed. To stay updated with the latest on R.E.P.O., be sure to check out our article below!
