Techland made a striking appearance at Summer Game Fest 2025 to unveil the official release date for Dying Light: The Beast — August 22, 2025. The game will launch on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S.
This surprise announcement confirms that the Dying Light spinoff is just months away, bringing players back into the harrowing world of Kyle Crane, the fan-favorite protagonist who was absent from the 2022 sequel. Set in the treacherous Castor Woods, a dense and deadly valley, The Beast promises a brutal survival experience packed with intense combat and emotional depth.
In its official description, Techland dubs the game a "blend of open world and action survival horror." Players will step once again into the shoes of Kyle Crane, who has endured years of torture and experimentation at the hands of the Baron. Now escaped, Crane battles not only the infected but also his own inner turmoil — torn between his humanity and the monstrous zombie DNA coursing through his veins.
"You are Kyle Crane. After being captured by the Baron and enduring his painful experiments for years, you escape," Techland states. "Left on the edge of humanity with both human and zombie DNA, you struggle to control your inner beast and the conflict that comes with it. But you’ll need to, if you want to get your revenge on the man who did this to you."
The gameplay trailer showcased during the event highlights the visceral, fast-paced combat mechanics, demonstrating countless ways to beat, stab, and bash through hordes of the infected. With enhanced parkour mechanics, brutal melee weapons, and new supernatural abilities tied to Crane’s transformation, The Beast aims to deliver a fresh yet familiar experience for longtime fans.
As a standalone title, Dying Light: The Beast does not require ownership of previous games in the series. It is now available for pre-order, offering early access to the exclusive Hero of Harran bundle. This special package includes the Ultimate Survivor Outfit, Harran Combat Knife, Follower Crossbow, and other unique in-game items.
