Earth vs. Mars Announced by Company of Heroes Developer Relic Entertainment

Author : Hunter Mar 05,2025

Relic Entertainment, the studio behind Company of Heroes, is branching out with a new turn-based strategy game: Earth vs. Mars. This smaller-scale title, launching this Summer on PC (Steam), puts players in a fight for Earth's survival against a Martian invasion.

The core gameplay revolves around the Splice-O-Tron, a device used to create bizarre and powerful hybrid creatures—think Squirrel-Cows, Human-Rhinos, and Cheetah-Flies—to defend against the technologically superior Martian forces. Inspired by the classic Advance Wars, players will command Earth's military against Martian saucers, grav-tanks, and elite alien warriors.

Relic explains the Martian invasion's origins: "For decades, Martians have secretly visited Earth, abducting humans and animals to harvest their atomic essence. Now, they've launched a full-scale invasion."

The game features a 30+ mission single-player campaign, online multiplayer (playable as either Earth or Mars), a VS Mode against the AI, and a map editor.

Relic CEO Justin Dowdeswell stated, "We're thrilled to put a Relic spin on the Advance Wars formula, blending our signature style with elements from our earlier games." This project reflects Relic's new strategy: developing smaller, indie-style games alongside their traditional RTS titles to explore new genres, experiment creatively, and increase release frequency.
