GTA 6: S-Tier Potential? Ranking All Rockstar Games

Author : Lily May 14,2025

The excitement for the new GTA 6 trailer is palpable, and if you missed it, we've broken down all the secrets and details for you. Unfortunately, we'll need to wait until May 26, 2026, to dive into Lucia and Jason's story. While we count down the days, let's reminisce about the incredible Rockstar games we've enjoyed over the years and rank them just for fun.

Since its inception in 1998, Rockstar has developed and released over 30 games, including iconic series like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Manhunt. But which of these gems shines the brightest? Note that this list excludes games like LA Noire or Max Payne 2, as we're focusing solely on Rockstar-developed titles. I've created a personal tier list based on my enjoyment of these games over the years, using an IGN Tier List. Check out my rankings below:

Rockstar Games Tier List

Red Dead Redemption 2 easily clinches the top spot in my S-tier. It's my all-time favorite game, and it's joined by its predecessor and GTA 5—both trailblazers in the cinematic open-world genre. I also have a soft spot for Max Payne 3 and its mesmerizing bullet time mechanics, as well as GTA San Andreas, which I played far too young. At the bottom of the barrel in the D-tier, you'll find games like Austin Powers: Oh, Behave! and Welcome to My Underground Lair!—titles that most would rather forget.

If you disagree with my rankings, perhaps thinking that Vice City outshines GTA 4, why not create your own tier list? You can rank Rockstar's games into S, A, B, C, and D tiers and compare your choices with the entire IGN community.

With only two trailers released so far, where do you think GTA 6 will land on the tier list once it's fully released? Share your thoughts and your own game rankings in the comments below.
