"Our first Major Update is finally here," developer Supergiant Games said in its announcement today of Hades 2's first major update, The Olympic Update, " In the coming weeks, we will be looking closely at player feedback to ensure our latest changes are solid." Hades 2 has just rolled out The Olympic Update featuring several exciting additions including an all-new region, weapon to master, more characters, along with new Animal Familiars to bond with, and much more!

The following are the highlights that come in Hades 2's "practically mountain-sized" The Olympic Update:

⚫︎ New Region: Can you reach Olympus, the mountain of the gods? And if so... can you save it?
⚫︎ New Weapon: Wield the otherworldly might of Xinth, the Black Coat — last of the Nocturnal Arms
⚫︎ New Characters: Track down two new allies on their home turf and earn their favor
⚫︎ New Familiars: You now can bond with two new animal companions... once you find them!
⚫︎ Crossroads Renewal: Unlock dozens of new cosmetic items to liven up the Crossroads your way
⚫︎ Expanded Story: Discover hours of new dialogue, as the plot thickens once you reach the new Region
⚫︎ World Map: Look for this new presentation when moving from one Region of the world to another
⚫︎ Mac Support: The game now runs natively on Macs on Apple M1 or later

Hades 2, the sequel to Supergiant Games' acclaimed 2020 roguelike action-adventure title, is currently in its early access release, with the full game along with console launches expected around next year. Released on PC early access back in May, Hades 2 has been praised for its solid replay value and sizable content at this stage of development. With its first major update, Hades 2 also looks to clock in more hours of added content, with new dialogue and voice lines as the game's plot unfolds even more—and things will surely start to heat up again with the addition of Olympus, the mythical home of the Greek gods that houses the throne of Zeus.

Apart from these, a number of Nocturnal Arms and Abilities have been reworked, such as the Specials for the Witch's Staff, Sister Blades, Umbral Flames, and Moonstone Axe, that'll help Melinoe adapt to your playstyle of choice. Melinoe's Dash also has been reworked to be faster and more responsive, making dashing out of hit-stun attacks quicker to execute. As Melinoe gets a refresh, however, so do your enemies and the dangers that lurk.

Supergiant Games has added a variety of enemies to go with the all-new Mt. Olympus region, including new Wardens and a new Guardian. Moreover, with the addition of a third region, various adjustments to enemies of the Surface have also been implemented:

⚫︎ Chronos: reduced downtime between phases; other minor adjustments
⚫︎ Eris: various adjustments; in a surprisingly rational turn, she no longer is as prone to standing in flames
⚫︎ Infernal Beast: resurfaces sooner after the battle's first phase; various minor adjustments
⚫︎ Polyphemus: no longer summons Elite foes; other minor adjustments
⚫︎ Charybdis: reduced number of phases; flails with increased intensity and reduced downtime
⚫︎ Headmistress Hecate: now loses invulnerability sooner after her Sisters of the Dead are vanquished
⚫︎ For certain ranged-attacking foes, fewer of them will fire at you all at once
⚫︎ Various other minor changes to foes and combat encounters
