Hollow Knight: Silksong Community Is Pinning a Lot of Hope on Next Week's Nintendo Direct

Author : Zachary Apr 20,2025

The fervor surrounding the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong has reached a fever pitch once again, leaving fans both hopeful and disheartened after today's Nintendo Direct failed to deliver any new information on the sequel. The passionate community, often seen donning their metaphorical clown makeup in anticipation of updates, is now gearing up for another shot at news with the upcoming Nintendo showcase on April 2nd.

The subreddit and Discord channels dedicated to Silksong are buzzing with memes, predictions, and playful banter about the game's elusive release. From the rollercoaster of emotions following back-to-back Nintendo Directs last year to the frenzy sparked by a misleading chocolate cake photo in January, the community's journey has been nothing short of a rollercoaster.

The significance of the next showcase cannot be understated, especially given Hollow Knight's success on the Nintendo Switch. With the event set to unveil details about the Nintendo Switch 2, including hardware and potential launch titles, fans are clinging to the hope that Silksong might finally make its grand reappearance. The game's popularity and anticipation could make it a perfect fit for such a major showcase, provided it's ready for the spotlight.

Despite the community's recurring disappointments, there are glimmers of hope. A recent Xbox Wire post casually mentioned Silksong, and there have been updates to the game's Steam listing, including a copyright year change. Yet, these signs are often overshadowed by the community's history of overhyping and subsequent letdowns.

Matthew 'Leth' Griffin of Team Cherry offered a sliver of reassurance in January, affirming that the game is indeed real, in development, and will eventually see the light of day. As the Silksong community prepares for another round of anticipation, all eyes are on the April 2nd showcase. Whether it will bring the long-awaited news or yet another cycle of clown makeup remains to be seen.
