Krysten Ritter is set to reprise her role as Jessica Jones in the upcoming second season of Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+. The announcement was made during the Disney Upfront presentation in New York, putting an end to months of speculation and rumors about the return of the Netflix Defenders to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Ritter joined her Daredevil and The Defenders co-star Charlie Cox on stage, sharing her enthusiasm about returning to the role. "It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and The Defenders and now joining the MCU," Ritter stated. "I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!"

Ritter first brought Jessica Jones to life in the debut season of the Netflix series in 2015, followed by two more seasons and a team-up in The Defenders. As Netflix's involvement with original Marvel content began to decline, so did the chances of seeing Ritter return as the character. However, Disney's reacquisition of the rights to certain characters in 2021, including Jessica Jones, reignited hope among fans.
With Charlie Cox's successful return as Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home and the subsequent Daredevil: Born Again series, fans speculated about the potential return of other Netflix heroes. The inclusion of Punisher in Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again further fueled these hopes, making Ritter's return in Season 2 a logical step.
Ritter last portrayed Jessica Jones in the third season, which aired in 2019. Her comments at the upfront presentation hint at more appearances for Jessica Jones in the MCU's future, though fans can look forward to seeing her in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. The release date for the season has not yet been announced, but showrunner Dario Scardapane has indicated a premiere in March 2026.
