LEGO Launches In-House Gaming Projects

Author : Sarah Apr 06,2025

LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has shared exciting news about the company's future, announcing plans to broaden its digital footprint through the development of video games. This strategic move involves creating games both independently and in collaboration with other developers, marking a significant expansion for the iconic toy manufacturer.

"We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing." - Niels Christiansen

This expansion into the gaming world does not mean LEGO will cease licensing its brand to third-party developers. For example, journalist Jason Schreier recently reported that TT Games, renowned for its LEGO-themed titles, is currently developing a new LEGO game, possibly linked to one of Warner Bros.' franchises.

LEGO's most notable gaming endeavor to date is its ongoing partnership with Epic Games. Last year, Fortnite introduced a LEGO-themed mode that swiftly became one of the game's most beloved features. This collaboration highlights LEGO's commitment to integrating its brand into popular digital platforms.

Over the past two decades, LEGO has been closely associated with the adventure game series developed by TT Games. Although new projects from the studio have been relatively quiet, rumors are circulating about a potential LEGO Harry Potter game, inspired by the commercial success of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Furthermore, LEGO's partnership with 2K Games resulted in the release of LEGO 2K Drive, a racing game launched last year. This venture underscores the brand's adaptability and versatility within the gaming industry, showcasing LEGO's ability to engage fans across various genres.
