Longvinter, after a three-year journey through early access on Steam, has finally launched its highly anticipated 1.0 version. This release marks a significant milestone, incorporating extensive player feedback and bug fixes to deliver a revitalized experience for both veteran and new players.
The update's centerpiece is the addition of oil rigs scattered across the game's archipelago. Players can now extract oil, refine it into fuel, and engage in thrilling battles against LRI mercenaries vying for control of these crucial supply lines. Adding to the dynamic gameplay, new events have been integrated, including helicopter crashes yielding valuable tactical gear and an underground arena offering hourly battles for coveted rewards.
The game world has been significantly enriched with the introduction of diverse wildlife, including lynxes, wolves, wolverines, foxes, moose, and goats—all tamable and usable as mounts. A wealth of new items accompanies these additions: buff-providing hats, combat vests, weapons, explosives, an array of kitchen recipes, and interactive objects for building and decorating, such as oil refineries, refrigerators, microwaves, power poles, and turrets. Weapon balance has also undergone significant adjustments.
Future plans are ambitious, with the upcoming 1.1 update promising farming mechanics, a streamlined tutorial for newcomers, apartment rentals, and the exciting prospect of shared communities. Furthermore, Longvinter's developers have confirmed a PlayStation launch in 2026, expanding the game's reach to a wider audience.
