Marvel Rivals Players Have an Idea to Improve Proficiency Rewards

Marvel Rivals' Reward System Under Fire: Players Demand More Accessible Nameplates

Marvel Rivals players are expressing frustration over the difficulty of obtaining nameplates without in-app purchases. The current system, primarily tied to the battle pass, leaves many feeling excluded. This has sparked a lively debate within the community, focusing on alternative reward structures.

The game, launched in December 2024, recently released its highly anticipated Season 1 update, adding significant content including ten new character skins. While skins, sprays, and emotes are readily available through progression, nameplates—highly sought-after identifiers—remain a point of contention. Many are only obtainable via direct purchase, creating an accessibility issue for free-to-play players.

Reddit user DaPurpleDerpleOf highlighted this problem, suggesting a clever solution: converting Lore Banners into nameplate rewards. This would provide a more attainable path to these coveted cosmetic items, addressing player concerns about the current system's pay-to-win elements. Some players even argue that Lore Banners are aesthetically superior to the existing nameplates.

The game also features a Proficiency Point system, rewarding players for mastering individual characters through gameplay. However, the current Proficiency rewards lack the prestige of nameplates. Players believe adding nameplates as Proficiency rewards would be a logical and satisfying addition, showcasing skill and mastery. The sentiment is widespread, with many calling this a simple yet effective improvement.

The recent Season 1 update, introducing Sue Storm and Mister Fantastic, along with new maps and modes, has further highlighted the disparity in reward accessibility. While the update brought exciting additions, the core issue of nameplate acquisition remains a significant point of discussion. With Season 1 running until mid-April, developers may consider addressing these concerns to improve player satisfaction and engagement.
