NetEase Games has issued a ban on using keyboard and mouse adapters with Marvel Rivals on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. The company cites unfair competitive advantages gained through increased control precision and aiming assistance retention as the reason for the ban.
Adapters like XIM, Cronus Zen, Titan Two, KeyMander, and Brook Sniper, which simulate gamepad input from keyboard and mouse controls, are specifically targeted. This functionality provides a significant edge, especially in competitive modes with auto-aim enabled.
NetEase's statement clarifies their stance: "We classify adapters as devices or software that mimic gamepad controls using a keyboard and mouse. This creates an uneven playing field, particularly in competitive game modes." Advanced detection systems are in place to identify adapter usage, resulting in account suspension upon detection.
Separately, a correlation has been observed between higher FPS and increased ping in Marvel Rivals. While the impact might be minimal with low ping, a jump from, say, 90ms to 150ms can severely disrupt gameplay. This issue appears linked to frame rate. Currently, players are advised to wait for a game patch and experiment to find an optimal FPS/ping balance. Some suggest maintaining an FPS around 90 as a temporary workaround, although this might seem counterintuitive to players accustomed to higher frame rates in other games.
