Once considered an impossibility, the idea of Marvel Rivals coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 now appears increasingly feasible. While NetEase had previously dismissed a release on the original Switch due to technical limitations, the upcoming successor might just change the game—literally.
At the DICE Summit, producer Weikang Wu disclosed that discussions with Nintendo are actively underway. The primary challenge? Ensuring the game runs smoothly and consistently on the new hardware:
"The first-generation Switch simply didn’t have the power to deliver the gameplay experience we envisioned. But if the Switch 2 can handle it, we’re absolutely ready to bring the game to the platform."
Image: opencritic.com Earlier, game director Thaddeus Sasser made it clear that there were no immediate plans for a mobile version or an original Switch release. Should a Switch 2 port come to fruition, it would likely necessitate a custom build tailored to the hardware’s capabilities.
With the Nintendo Switch 2 officially announced, industry giants are already showing their support for the platform. Phil Spencer has hinted at Xbox’s interest in bringing its catalog to the system, and Electronic Arts (EA) has also expressed its backing.
Meanwhile, Marvel Rivals is gearing up for further expansion, with two members of the Fantastic Four set to join the fray in upcoming updates.
