Marvel Rivals Season 2 Brings More Team-Up Skills and Skins

Marvel Rivals Game Director Guangyun Chen revealed major changes to team-up skills in an interview with PC Gamer on March 14th. He stated, "Starting from Season 2, we will introduce new Team-Up skills with the seasonal update and adjust some existing ones. Together with seasonal overall balance adjustments, this will create a new combat environment and experience for the season."

Currently, the game boasts 17 team-up skills, including notable combinations like Hela's Ragnarok Rebirth, Cloak & Dagger's Lunar Force, and Allied Agents for Hawkeye and Black Widow. With an expanding roster, balancing these skills will be a significant challenge for NetEase.

Hero Balancing: A Continuous Effort

Chen also addressed the ongoing challenge of hero balancing in a growing game. He explained, "First, we will closely monitor key metrics for heroes across different modes. For example, in Quick Match and Competitive Modes, we will analyze data such as win rates, pick rates, damage, healing, damage taken, and final blows for heroes at various ranks and in different tournaments. This data serves as the foundation for our balancing efforts."

He continued, "At the same time, we will analyze the composition of hero lineups and their win rates within the aforementioned modes, which will be crucial references for our overall balancing direction. Finally, we will pay close attention to the player community as one of the bases for our balancing decisions."

Chen previously hinted at a new hero release every half-season (with seasons lasting approximately three months), adding up to eight new heroes annually. This ambitious growth plan necessitates a robust and adaptable balancing strategy. He confirmed, "The content for Season 2 is ready and set to go. The designs for Seasons 3 and 4 have also been completed and are currently under intensive development! Overall, everything is progressing smoothly." This reinforces NetEase's commitment to supporting Marvel Rivals for the long term, aiming for a decade or more of continuous updates.

Spider-Punk 2099 and Steam Power Iron Man Arrive March 20th

NetEase announced via the official Marvel Rivals Twitter (X) account on March 18th that two highly anticipated skins are dropping on March 20th at 7 PM PDT / 10 PM EDT / March 21st at 2:00 AM UTC: Spider-Punk 2099, featuring a futuristic Spider-Man with a digital mask, spiked mohawk, and electric guitar; and Steam Power Iron Man, boasting a steampunk aesthetic with large exhaust pipes and a fiery furnace on his chest.

These skins, previously seen in the closed beta, fulfill a long-standing player request, following the recent release of Loki's Presidential attire (also a beta favorite). While the release date is confirmed, pricing details remain undisclosed.

With Season 1 winding down, NetEase is clearly gearing up for a major push with Season 2. Marvel Rivals is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates!
