Keep Your Guard Up

Xu Wu's agility in *Monster Hunter Wilds* makes it a frustrating opponent. Its elusive movements and black skin, similar to Nu Udra's, can make it challenging to anticipate its attacks. Be prepared for Xu Wu to use its multiple arms and occasionally vanish into walls, only to re-emerge from the ceiling in its nest. Staying vigilant, especially in this environment, is crucial to avoid being caught off-guard by its surprise attacks.

Use Ice Attacks

Leverage Xu Wu's weakness to Ice in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Whether you're opting for Ice ammo or melee combat, equip your gear with Ice-based elemental damage. Enhancing your equipment with a Frost Jewel decoration to boost your Ice Attack skill is advisable. Additionally, carrying a Frost Pod can provide a handy way to inflict minor Ice damage, aiding in your battle strategy.

Avoid the Grab Attack

Xu Wu's arsenal includes tentacles, diving maneuvers, and a grab attack that can disable your regular weapons temporarily. You have a brief two-second window to escape. Using your slinger, particularly with Frost Pods, can help you break free and turn the tables on this monster.

Attack Xu Wu’s Mouth

Targeting Xu Wu's mouth, its most vulnerable point, can be tricky as it's positioned underneath its body. Seize the opportunity to strike when it lunges at you. A successful hit could not only deal substantial damage but also potentially break its mouth, rewarding you with Xu Wu's fang. If the mouth is out of reach, aim for the head, which is highly susceptible to both blunt and cut damage, as well as ammo.

Use Poison

Exploit Xu Wu's 3-star weakness to Poison to gain an upper hand. A bow with Poison Coating can be an effective tool for applying this status effect. While other status ailments can also be used, steer clear of Sleep as it's less effective against this creature.

Time is of the essence, as you only have a few seconds before the monster could break free.
