Hideaki Nishino has been elevated to the position of sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), effective April 1, 2025. This announcement comes from a recent press release, which also detailed significant leadership changes within Sony Corporation. Hiroki Totoki, Sony's CFO, will ascend to the role of president and CEO of the entire company, succeeding Kenichiro Yoshida, who has led the company since April 2018, following Kazuo Hirai. Additionally, Lin Tao, the Senior Vice President of Finance, Corporate Development, and Strategy, will take on the role of CFO.
Just a year ago, it was announced that Nishino and Hermen Hulst would jointly lead SIE following the retirement of former CEO Jim Ryan. In this arrangement, Hulst was designated head of PlayStation Studios, while Nishino was responsible for hardware and technology. With the latest development, Nishino now assumes full leadership of SIE and will continue to lead the platform business group. Meanwhile, Hulst will maintain his role as head of PlayStation Studios.
Nishino, who has been with Sony since 2000, previously held the position of Senior Vice President of the Platform Experience Group. Expressing his gratitude and vision for the future, Nishino stated, "I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone. We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation. I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as CEO, Studio Business Group. I am deeply grateful for the PlayStation community and their continued support and I am very excited for what the future holds."
