Palworld developer Pocketpair is gearing up for a major update, set to launch in late March 2025, that will introduce crossplay functionality across all platforms. This eagerly anticipated update will also feature world transfer capabilities for Pals, enhancing the multiplayer experience. While the specifics remain under wraps, Pocketpair shared a glimpse of what's to come with a promotional image showcasing a group of Palworld characters engaged in battle with a formidable Pal.

John 'Bucky' Buckley, Pocketpair's Communications Director and Publishing Manager, hinted at "a few little surprises" that will accompany the March update, adding an extra layer of excitement for the game's vast player base. This news comes as a treat for the 32 million players who have embraced Palworld since its early access debut in January 2024.
Pocketpair has outlined an ambitious content roadmap for 2025, which includes not only crossplay but also an "ending scenario" and additional new content, promising to keep the game fresh and engaging for fans of this popular creature-catching survival game.
Since its launch on Steam for $30 and its immediate availability on Game Pass for Xbox and PC, Palworld has shattered sales and concurrent player number records. The game's monumental success led Pocketpair's CEO, Takuro Mizobe, to admit that the studio was overwhelmed by the massive profits generated. In response, Pocketpair quickly moved to expand the Palworld universe, striking a deal with Sony to create Palworld Entertainment, a new venture focused on broadening the IP and bringing the game to the PS5.
However, the game's rise has not been without challenges. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have initiated legal action against Pocketpair, alleging infringement on "multiple" patent rights and seeking both an injunction and damages. In response, Pocketpair has identified the specific patents in question and made adjustments to the game, such as altering how players summon Pals. The studio remains resolute, ready to defend its position in court, stating, "We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings."
