Pokémon Champions, Game Freak's Leaked Multiplayer Game, Officially Revealed

Author : Benjamin Apr 13,2025

After months of speculation and leaks, the eagerly awaited Pokémon Champions has finally been unveiled. This exciting new title, developed through a collaboration between Game Freak and The Pokémon Works—a joint venture involving The Pokémon Company and ILCA, the team behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl—promises to bring a fresh, battle-centric experience to Pokémon fans.

Pokémon Champions centers around the beloved "core-style battles" of the series, enabling players to engage in online multiplayer battles. The game's trailer showcased the inclusion of both Mega Evolution and Terastalization, suggesting that it will encompass a wide range of Pokémon battle types and eras. This variety ensures that players can enjoy diverse and dynamic combat scenarios.

PlayOne of the standout features of Pokémon Champions is its integration with Pokémon Home. This connectivity allows players to transfer their Pokémon from other games into Pokémon Champions, providing a new purpose for the vast collections many fans have amassed over the years.

Currently in development for both Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms, Pokémon Champions does not yet have a confirmed release date. However, it will be available in Latin American Spanish at launch, in addition to other languages traditionally supported by Pokémon games.

The game, previously known as Pokémon Synapse during last year's "Freak Leak," was initially shrouded in mystery. The leak revealed that Game Freak and ILCA were co-developing the title, hinting at a multiplayer focus. While some early comparisons likened it to Splatoon, it's now clear that Pokémon Champions is a unique addition to the Pokémon franchise.
