Ryan Reynolds is reportedly in the "early stages" of bringing a unique Deadpool and X-Men ensemble movie to life, though nothing has been pitched to Marvel yet. According to THR, Reynolds envisions a film where Deadpool shares the spotlight with three or four other X-Men characters, who would take center stage and be utilized in "unexpected ways." This project would be distinct from the X-Men movie being developed by Hunger Games' writer Michael Lesslie and seems to follow a similar developmental path to Deadpool & Wolverine, which initially was conceived as a low-budget road trip movie.
Reynolds has a history of independently developing his ideas before presenting them to Marvel, and this ensemble concept isn't his first foray into such a project. While the specific X-Men characters that might join Deadpool remain a mystery, the Merc With a Mouth has previously collaborated with various members of the team and their adversaries in his films, including Wolverine, Colossus, Sabertooth, Pyro, and even Channing Tatum's Gambit.
