Following a successful closed alpha phase, Smite 2's free-to-play open beta is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Steam Deck. Titan Forge Games has launched a new Smite 2 patch alongside the open beta, introducing fresh gods, a new game mode, and more exciting content.
Announced a year ago, Smite 2 is the sequel to the beloved third-person MOBA, utilizing Unreal Engine 5 for enhanced visuals and refined combat mechanics. The game features a revamped item shop, enabling players to acquire various items regardless of their chosen god's classification. As in the original Smite, players embody gods from diverse cultures, engaging in 5v5 battles to conquer the enemy team. Now, after its closed alpha phase, Smite 2 is open to everyone.
As of January 14, players can download Smite 2's open beta for free on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Epic Games Store and Steam), and Steam Deck. The latest update introduces Aladdin, a new god specifically crafted for Smite 2. Aladdin boasts unique abilities, such as running along walls and reviving after death with the help of his companion, who grants him three wishes. True to his legendary origins, Aladdin's ultimate ability allows him to capture enemies with his lamp, forcing them into a 1v1 confrontation.

The roster of new gods includes Geb, the Egyptian God of Earth; Mulan, the Chinese Ascendant Warrior; Agni, from the Hindu Pantheon; and Ullr, from the Norse Pantheon. Alongside these additions, Smite 2 brings back the beloved Joust mode, featuring a smaller 3v3 map. The Conquest map and the Assault game mode are also part of the open beta experience.
Titan Forge Games’ creative director has stated that Smite 2 surpasses its predecessor in numerous aspects. The developer expressed gratitude for the player feedback during the closed alpha phase, which helped improve the game, and teased "ambitious content" slated for release in 2025.
While Smite 2 is available on most major platforms, Nintendo Switch users will miss out due to performance concerns. However, Titan Forge Games remains open to the possibility of a future release on the Switch 2. In the meantime, Smite fans can dive into the open beta and experience this eagerly anticipated sequel.
