Star Wars Outlaws: A Tribute to Hondo Ohnaka's Pirate Legacy

Author : Blake May 16,2025

Today marks an exciting new chapter for fans of *Star Wars Outlaws* with the launch of the "A Pirate’s Fortune" DLC, now available across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms. At the heart of this expansion is the beloved character Hondo Ohnaka, a Weequay pirate known from the *Darth Maul* comics and *Star Wars: The Clone Wars* animated series. According to Drew Rechner, Creative Director at Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment, the team's passion for Hondo was the driving force behind this new content.

"We always knew because there were so many passionate people on the team that we needed to feature Hondo. And, you know, that scoundrel fantasy of Kay mixing with the pirate fantasy of Hondo, it just kind of makes sense, right?" Rechner shared in an interview with IGN. The narrative of the DLC intertwines with Kay's journey of self-discovery and leadership, with Hondo serving as a dubious mentor figure, sparking intriguing dynamics within the storyline.

The "A Pirate’s Fortune" expansion introduces players to fresh adventures involving the Rokana Raiders crime gang and the Miyuki Trade League, the latter of which provides Kay with upgrades for her Trailblazer ship. Additionally, a new blaster capability named Shock adds to the gameplay arsenal, enhancing the overall experience.

In other news, *Star Wars Outlaws* is set to expand its reach with a Nintendo Switch 2 release scheduled for September 4. While Rechner remained tight-lipped about specific new features for this platform, he teased that more details would be forthcoming. "In terms of a specific feature set, that's something that we will get into later. So we'll have more stuff to talk about later," he stated. Potential enhancements could include utilizing the Switch 2's innovative controllers as a mouse and exploring new GameChat capabilities.
