As a long-time PC gamer who's always been swayed by the allure of Steam sales, I never thought Xbox Game Pass would catch my attention—until now. The unexpected launch of Bethesda and Virtuos' *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered* directly onto Game Pass was a game-changer. And with *Clair Obscur: Expedition 33*, the eagerly awaited debut from Sandfall Interactive, set to join the service tomorrow, Microsoft has truly won me over as a dedicated RPG enthusiast.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Both Hit Game Pass This Week

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered made a surprise appearance on April 22, available on PC, consoles, and Game Pass. I spent the day downloading and the night immersing myself in its revamped world. The remaster boasts new character models, enhanced combat interactions, and stunning visual effects. While the dialogue retains some of the original's charm, Virtuos has added over five new voice actors to breathe fresh life into the game. The base edition retails at $49.99, including the original DLCs, with a deluxe edition priced at $10 more.

On the other hand, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 marks the debut of the French studio Sandfall Interactive. Set to launch at midnight PST tonight in the U.S., it boasts an impressive 92 rating on Metacritic, with IGN awarding it a 9/10 for its captivating story design, describing it as "a true modern throwback." The game's stylish user interface echoes the Persona series, and its turn-based combat system is among the most innovative I've seen. The base edition matches the price of the Bethesda remaster at $49.99.
Although Expedition 33 was poised to headline April's Game Pass lineup, the surprise release of Oblivion Remastered has cast a shadow over the indie game's launch. However, from my perspective, we're fortunate to have two exceptional games available. Thanks to Game Pass, I've opted to invest $20 in a Game Pass Ultimate subscription rather than spending $100 on both games individually. Now, the only question is when I'll find time to step away from the screen.
Game Pass has continued to expand its library with some of 2025's most anticipated titles, including Blue Prince, South of Midnight, and Avowed, alongside evergreen classics like GTA V and the entire Call of Duty series. There truly is something for every type of gamer.
Game Pass Is a Ridiculously Good Deal Right Now
Game Pass Ultimate, priced at $19.99 per month, offers full access to the Game Pass library across console, PC, and cloud gaming. The PC-exclusive Game Pass is more budget-friendly at $9.99 per month. The Standard and Core tiers are available for $14.99 and $9.99 per month, respectively, though they don't include day-one releases. Following the last price increase in July 2024, and with such high-profile game launches, another hike could be on the horizon.
While there are no current Game Pass deals, securing a three-month subscription might shield you from future price increases. For deals on other platforms, check out our roundup of PS5, PC, and Switch offers. And don't forget, U.S. preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 go live tonight.
