Capcom has cleverly teased Resident Evil 9 in a way that's easy to miss, hidden within a celebratory video marking a monumental 10 million players for Resident Evil 4. Released on April 25, the short video features Ada Wong in a tense conversation with a notorious villain, followed by a quirky scene of Leon surrounded by an infected horde wearing party hats, casually making their way to a church.
The video then transitions into a rock-themed segment with Dr. Salvador amusingly strumming a chainsaw as if it were a guitar, while Leon pumps his fist in the air. The camera pans to reveal a rustic "Thank you for playing" sign. However, the real surprise comes when you tilt the sign sideways; the boards cleverly form the Roman numeral "IX," or the number 9.
While some might dismiss this as a coincidence, horror game insider Dusk Golem points out that the lower plank, essential for forming the "IX," was intentionally added to the sign later in the video. This has sparked speculation and excitement among fans. One surprised fan responded, "I know what you did here," accompanied by a wide-eyed emoji.

Capcom has officially announced that Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi will helm the next mainline entry in the Resident Evil series. Nakanishi, reflecting on the challenge of following up Resident Evil 7, said at the time, "It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]. But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Rumors suggest, though not confirmed, that the setting might be an island inspired by Singapore.
