RuneScape: Dragonwilds Early Access Livestream Recap
Early Access Now Live!
In a twist no one saw coming, Jagex revealed RuneScape: Dragonwilds' immediate early access availability during their April 16 livestream. The Steam launch follows closely behind March's debut trailer, catching the community off guard.
Players were doubly surprised given the recent timeline: Steam wishlists opened April 1, followed by the first gameplay teaser on April 2. Though initially hinted at in 2022, concrete details emerged only in late 2024 through alpha signups for a "RuneScape survival spin-off." The official Dragonwilds title confirmation came March 31, 2025.
Targeted Full Release: Early 2026

Jagex projects Dragonwilds' complete version will launch around early 2026. Developers emphasized: "We're committed to polishing every aspect to deliver a fully realized experience worth replaying with friends."
Executive Producer Jesse America described Dragonwilds as a fresh direction for the franchise, noting early access marks just the beginning of their development cycle.
"We'll continuously expand Early Access with new features while gathering player feedback," he explained. "Our goal is crafting an open-world survival game that resonates equally with longtime RuneScape veterans and newcomers."
Early Access Content Roadmap

The unveiled roadmap showcases ambitious plans, including Fellhollow - a mysterious realm balancing between existence and oblivion.
This haunted region, dominated by soul-devouring dragon Imaru and infused with Ashenfall's chaotic energies, will feature series favorite Death as a guide. Expect new narratives, equipment, magical skills, agricultural systems, and original soundtrack pieces.
Additional planned features include Lesser Dragon adversaries, specialized dragon-slaying armor, hardcore/creative modes, and quality-of-life improvements rolling out continuously throughout Early Access.
