For some time now, Tekken fans have been vocal about their desire to see a Waffle House stage in the game. While it may seem like a whimsical request, the enthusiasm has caught the attention of Tekken 8's director, Katsuhiro Harada. Despite his interest, no concrete steps have been taken by Waffle House to collaborate.
On X/Twitter, Harada directly addressed fans still pushing for a Waffle House stage in Tekken 8. He acknowledged the frequent and fervent requests, expressing that he not only understands the fans' wishes but has actively tried to make it happen.
Harada revealed that over the past year, he's reached out through multiple channels in an attempt to bring this idea to fruition. He speculated that the lack of response from Waffle House might be due to the association of his projects with "fighting-themed video games."
"Over the past year or more, I've actually tried to make contact through several different channels," Harada shared on X/Twitter. "However, and this is purely my own speculation, I suspect that the lack of response may be due to the fact that the project I'm known for revolves around 'fighting-themed video games.'"To be honest, within the bounds of what I can say, I fully understand your (you guys) request—that's precisely why I had considered taking on this challenge. In fact, I had already been thinking about it quite a while ago.

Harada emphasized that receiving "no response" is unusual and suggested that if using a different name or format is acceptable, as long as "the core message is maintained," he would be open to revisiting the concept.
This means that fans might not see Kazuya and Jin battling it out under the iconic Waffle House sign just yet. However, Harada floated the idea of a parody version or an in-universe equivalent, such as "Hustle House," which could serve as a creative workaround.
Meanwhile, Tekken 8 is rolling out Patch 2.01, introducing new updates and confirming the upcoming addition of Fahkumram to the roster. Harada previously addressed fan concerns about Tekken 8's Season 2, assuring that the tuning team is diligently working to incorporate player feedback and enhance the game's future updates.
