The Ultimate Build Defense Beginner’s Guide

Author : Alexis May 25,2025

*Build Defense* is an exciting *Roblox* game where you construct a base using blocks to fend off a variety of threats, including monster attacks, tornados, bombs, and aliens. At first, it might seem reminiscent of *Minecraft* with a twist, but it's more akin to the original *Fortnite*—a nostalgic nod for some, perhaps. Regardless of its inspirations, *Build Defense* offers a thrilling experience, albeit with a learning curve. That's why we've created this Beginner's Guide to assist you in mastering the game.

Build Defense Beginner’s Guide

Below, we've outlined essential tips we wish we knew when starting out. Implementing these strategies can enhance your enjoyment and accelerate your progress.

The object of the game is to survive…

When you're thrown into your world and onto your little plot of land, you might assume the goal is to keep your plot safe. However, that's not quite right. **The main objective is to survive, or in other words, to not die.** The game will present you with numerous hazards, and it's your job to navigate them. Ideally, you should do this at your plot by constructing a defensive structure, but you can also simply run around the world until the threat subsides—a strategy that works surprisingly well. **Each time you survive, you earn a "Win" and some in-game currency.** Collecting Wins is how you progress in the game. So, keep an eye on the screen messages and focus on staying alive.

… dying is completely normal

**Don't worry if you die.** It's a common occurrence, and the consequences are minimal. You'll respawn immediately, lose your items, and fail the current enemy wave, but none of these setbacks are game-ending. **You can repurchase your weapons and items**, and the monsters and disasters **can't destroy your structures**. New attack waves come every two minutes, giving you plenty of opportunities to try again. In essence, **all you lose is a bit of time**, which isn't a significant loss.

Build high, not low

Initially, we thought building a wall around our plot would suffice, but it wasn't effective. We needed a way to enter and exit our base, which the monsters exploited. A highly effective counter-strategy is to **construct a set of stairs that ascend high into the sky and build a platform at the top**. During nighttime, you can simply climb up and wait out the dangers. Monsters attempting to climb the steep stairs are likely to fall, and those who reach the top can be met with a **barrage of turrets**. This setup is nearly foolproof and will help you survive most nights.

Don’t just build, explore!

You'll notice that there's **plenty to do on the island** beyond your plot. You can visit other players, sell your ores, and **even complete quests**. Most quests require a certain number of Wins before you can accept them, but some, like the **Gingerbread's House quest**, are available from the start. Completing these quests is beneficial as they can unlock exciting new building parts.

The “Shop” isn’t just for premium items

As you advance in the game, don't forget to check out the Shop. **Most items there can be purchased with in-game currency**. You'll need to accumulate several Wins before diving into the shop, so play the game a bit first. Also, remember to join the Swiftplay Roblox group and like, favorite, and follow the game to receive a free gift.

When you’re ready, move to the next area

Once you've earned enough Wins (190), you can transition to the next area and start the cycle anew. You'll encounter new disasters, quests, and building techniques.

**That’s all there is to it. Enjoy surviving and building in *Build Defense*. Don't forget to check out our *Build Defense* codes for some cool in-game freebies.**
