The Witcher 4: A New Generation Takes the Reins
CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has announced that The Witcher 4 will be the most ambitious and immersive entry in the acclaimed video game series to date. Executive producer Małgorzata Mitręga confirmed this in a recent interview with GamesRadar+, emphasizing the studio's commitment to exceeding expectations. Game director Sebastian Kalemba added that the team is applying lessons learned from both Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to create an unparalleled experience.
Ciri's Rise, Geralt's Retirement
The spotlight shifts to Ciri, Geralt's adopted daughter, who takes center stage as the new Witcher. This was, according to story director Tomasz Marchewka, the plan from the outset. He highlighted Ciri's complex character and the wealth of untold stories surrounding her.
While fans remember Ciri as incredibly powerful in The Witcher 3, Mitręga hints at a shift in her abilities, stating that "something totally happened in-between." Kalemba assures players that the game will offer a clear explanation for this change. Despite the adjustment, Mitręga assures us that Ciri still embodies Geralt's training, showcasing speed and agility while retaining a familiar essence.
Geralt's well-deserved retirement is also confirmed. Based on Andrzej Sapkowski's novels, Geralt's age in The Witcher 4 would place him in his seventies, nearing eighty, a fitting time for the seasoned Witcher to step aside. While Witcher lore suggests a lifespan of up to 100 years, this revelation surprised some fans who had previously estimated Geralt's age to be significantly higher.
The Witcher 4 promises a new chapter, a bold evolution of the franchise, and a captivating story centered around a beloved character stepping into a legendary role.
