"Dune: Awakening Delay Extended by Three Weeks for Beta-Inspired Enhancements"

Author : Ava May 20,2025

The much-anticipated open world survival MMO, Dune: Awakening, inspired by Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novels and Denis Villeneuve's acclaimed films, has now been rescheduled for release on June 10, 2025. Developer Funcom announced the delay to ensure a more polished experience, stating the need for "a bit more time to cook." This decision follows valuable feedback from the ongoing Persistent Closed Beta, allowing the team to incorporate requested changes and improvements.

For eager fans looking to dive in early, Funcom is offering a head start on June 5 for those who purchase the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition of the game. Additionally, to gather further input from the community, Funcom will host a large-scale beta weekend next month, providing more players the chance to experience Dune: Awakening and contribute their feedback.

While the delay might be disappointing for some, Funcom is keeping the excitement alive with a combat livestream scheduled for today at 12pm ET/9am PT. This event will delve deeper into the game's PvP and PvE mechanics, along with details on archetypes and skills.

Here at IGN, our enthusiasm for Dune: Awakening remains high. As we mentioned in our hands-on preview, "It's easy to be sceptical about an MMO survival game set in the Duniverse, but after a few bouts of dehydration and sunstroke, the day I spent in Arrakis convinced me that Dune: Awakening is one to watch."

For those interested in more details, be sure to check out information on the MMO's business model, post-launch plans, and the in-depth gameplay trailer unveiled at Gamescom ONL last year.
