Remember Funcom's pledge to address those frustrating helicopter squishes ruining PvP matches? Well, they've delivered a solution. Sort of.
Instead of tweaking the Ornithopters directly, developers implemented a simpler fix where "vehicles no longer deal damage upon collision."
PC Gamer notes this solution has its merits - it prevents griefers from pancaking players like desert insects while also preventing accidental sandbike wipeouts when you inevitably yeet yourself off cliffs.
Though hundreds have upvoted the announcement on Reddit, some veterans observe griefers have just upgraded their annoyance tactics rather than retiring.
"They should nerf rocket speed while boosting thruster velocity. PvP should reward skillful maneuvering, not cheap ambushes. Rockets belong in territorial fights - not player hunting," argued one battle-hardened player.
"Scouts packing rockets is ridiculous," countered another. "I've racked up unfair kills exploiting their mobility. Rockets belong on slower Assault units requiring actual combat finesse. Scouts should stick to recon and supply runs."
"Is this truly better? Maybe collisions should damage both parties. Immunity just lets Orni trolls continue their airborne harassment," added a skeptical voice.
They've got a point. Currently only Tier 6 weaponry like rocket launchers or Lasguns can swat these metal mosquitoes - gear that requires serious playtime to unlock.
The change also eliminates creative NPC elimination via vehicular manslaughter. But hey, at least you won't get flattened while harvesting spice, right?
We awarded Dune: Awakening a stellar 8/10 review, praising: "This survival MMO masterfully translates Frank Herbert's universe into digital form - for better and occasionally worse. The journey from parched newcomer to Arrakis powerhouse delivers constant satisfaction, with worldbuilding that'll make any Dune nerd geek out.
"That said, combat never fully finds its rhythm, endgame becomes a disorganized grind, and technical bugs still skitter across the dunes like baby maker hooks. Yet these flaws feel insignificant against the game's monumental achievements."
Dune: Awakening soared at launch, securing 'Very Positive' Steam reviews. Within hours of its June 10 debut, Funcom's MMO attracted 142,000 simultaneous players on Steam, peaking at 189,333 over the weekend.
