Stardew Valley DLC and Updates Forever Free, Promises Creator

The creator of Stardew Valley, Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, promised loyal fans that he would never charge for updates or DLCs.

Earlier today, Barone used Twitter(X) to update Stardew Valley fans on the progress of its ports and updates. Barone shared, "The ports and next PC update are still in progress. I know it is taking a long time, it's on my mind constantly. I have personally been working on the mobile port daily. I will announce any significant news (e.g. a release date). Hope you're having a good summer."

One fan commented that people won't complain "as long as everything you add is free." Barone replied, "I swear on my family's honor, I will never charge for a DLC or update for as long as I live." His response reassured fans that all future Stardew Valley updates or DLCs will be free.

Stardew Valley is a farming simulator/RPG released in 2016. Barone has consistently delivered significant updates improving performance and offering new ways for fans to enjoy the game. Stardew Valley's latest 1.6.9 update includes three festivals, multiple pets, expanded home renovations, new outfits, late-game content, and quality-of-life improvements.

Barone’s assurance might extend beyond Stardew Valley, as he's also developing Haunted Chocolatier. However, details on this new project are scarce, and fans may need to wait for further announcements.

As Stardew Valley's sole developer, Barone’s statement shows his respect for the gaming community. He even said, "Screencap this and call me out if I ever break this promise." This reassured fans they can enjoy new Stardew Valley content without extra cost, even after seven years.
