Elden Ring: Nightreign will remove an iconic feature of the last game. Why won't players be able to leave messages?

Elden Ring: Nightreign will remove the in-game messaging feature, a departure from FromSoftware's tradition. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. With each Nightreign session lasting approximately forty minutes, there's insufficient time for players to effectively leave or read messages.

"Given the roughly forty-minute session length, there's not enough time to send or read messages; hence, we disabled the feature," Ishizaki stated.

This change is notable, as player messaging has been a significant element in previous FromSoftware titles, enhancing player interaction and enjoyment. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.

To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate narrative. It offers a fresh adventure, incorporating unique challenges and encounters while preserving the signature atmosphere and complex world design of Elden Ring.
