Jason Momoa Hints at Lobo's Debut in 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow': 'We Look Pretty Dead On'

Jason Momoa is set to bring the iconic character Lobo to life in the upcoming 2026 DC Universe movie, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Known for his role as Aquaman in the former DC Extended Universe (DCEU), Momoa is excited to transition to the rebooted DC Universe (DCU) and take on the role of Lobo, a character he has long admired.

Lobo, an alien mercenary and bounty hunter from the planet Czarnia, possesses superhuman strength and immortality. Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo first appeared in Omega Men #3 in 1983. Much like Superman, he is the last survivor of his now-deceased world.

From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Momoa shared his enthusiasm for the role, stating, "Well, this is the role I've always wanted to play. That's the comic I loved, so I'm really nervous about it. It's kind of a no-brainer to play this character. It's pretty big." He hinted at a faithful adaptation of Lobo's rough and gruff persona, and teased that fans would see a cool motorcycle. However, he also mentioned that Lobo's screen time would be limited, as Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is primarily Supergirl's story.

PlayIn January, DC co-chief James Gunn shared the first photo of Milly Alcock as Supergirl, marking the start of production. The film, inspired by the graphic novel by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira, follows an alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll seeking revenge for her father's murder with the help of Supergirl. The cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts as the villain Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is slated for release in June 2026, following the DCU's first film, Superman, which hits theaters this summer. The DCU's Clayface movie is set to follow in September 2026.
