Smite 2 Free-to-Play Launch Date Announced Alongside New Character

Smite 2's Open Beta Launch: January 14th, 2025 Brings Aladdin and More

Get ready! Smite 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular MOBA, launches its free-to-play open beta on January 14th, 2025. This marks a significant milestone for the Unreal Engine 5-powered game, which entered Alpha in 2024.

This open beta isn't just about access; it's a substantial content drop. Alongside the launch, players will welcome Aladdin, the first God from the Tales of Arabia pantheon, a Magical Assassin and Jungler with unique wall-running and lamp-trapping abilities. The update also brings back fan favorites from the original Smite, including Mulan, Geb, Ullr, and Agni, albeit with revamped skill sets.

Beyond new Gods, expect a wealth of new features:

  • New Game Modes: Dive into Joust (3v3) and Duel (1v1), both featuring an Arthurian-themed map with teleporters and stealth grass.
  • Aspects System: This innovative system allows players to trade a God's standard ability for a powerful alternative. For example, Athena loses her ally-shielding teleport but gains a foe-weakening one. Twenty Gods will initially feature Aspects, with more to come.
  • Quality-of-Life Improvements: Smite 2 is enhancing the player experience with Role Guides, improved in-game messaging, PC text chat, an upgraded item store, death recaps, and more.

By the end of January 2025, the roster is projected to include nearly 50 Gods, a significant expansion from the initial 14 available during the Alpha. The open beta will feature 20 of the game's 45 dynamic Gods with Aspects.

The excitement extends beyond the game itself. The first Smite 2 esports tournament finale will take place at the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas from January 17th-19th.

Smite 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Mark your calendars for January 14th and prepare for battle!
