Monster Hunter Wilds Eliminates Gender-Locked Armor: Fashion Hunting Evolves

The long-standing gender restrictions on armor sets in the Monster Hunter series are finally a thing of the past! Capcom announced during the Monster Hunter Wilds Gamescom Developer Stream that the upcoming title will allow all hunters, regardless of gender, to wear any armor set.

This monumental change has been met with overwhelming excitement from the community, particularly among the dedicated "fashion hunters" who prioritize aesthetic customization. Previously, players were limited by gender-specific designs, missing out on desired armor pieces simply due to their assigned gender.

Monster Hunter Wilds Armor Sets Will No Longer Be Gender Exclusive

"In previous Monster Hunter games, male and female armor were separate," a Capcom developer explained, highlighting the shift in Monster Hunter Wilds. "I’m happy to confirm that in Monster Hunter Wilds, there’s no more male and female armor. All characters can wear any gear."

The reaction online has been jubilant, with many celebrating the end of this restrictive design choice. The ability to mix and match aesthetics without limitations is a significant step forward for player expression and creativity. No more will players be forced to choose between a preferred aesthetic and a specific character gender. The frustration of wanting a specific armor piece only available to the opposite gender is finally eliminated.

This update also addresses previous issues. In Monster Hunter: World, changing gender required purchasing in-game vouchers, creating an additional cost for players seeking specific armor styles. This financial barrier is removed in Wilds.

The anticipated layered armor system, likely returning in Wilds, further enhances the possibilities. Combining this with the removal of gender restrictions opens up a vast array of customization options for players.
